Google is introducing a feature to its Gemini AI chatbot that will automatically remember users’ previous conversations. When this feature is enabled, Gemini will store key information and preferences without any additional prompts, using them to personalize future interactions. This expands on last year’s feature that allowed users to manually ask Gemini to “remember” their preferences, and it will be turned on by default. Users can disable it in the app’s Personal Context settings. Google will begin rolling it out today to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model in select countries, with plans to expand to more regions and devices. In addition, the privacy setting “Gemini Apps Activity” will be renamed to “Keep Activity,” which, when enabled, will allow Google to use a sample of uploaded files and photos to help improve its services. Google has also recently added a “temporary chats” feature, which keeps conversations out of recent chat lists and the Keep Activity log, excludes them from personalization and AI training, and deletes them after 72 hours.
