Microsoft has unveiled two next-generation Copilot+ PCs capable of running AI models without an internet connection. The newly released devices are notable for their lower prices and longer battery life compared to previous models. The new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are equipped with Arm-based Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chips, each featuring 8 cores—down from 10 cores in last year’s models. Screen sizes have also been reduced, with the Surface Pro going from 13 inches to 12 inches and the Surface Laptop from 13.8 inches to 13 inches. The Surface Laptop starts at $899, and the Surface Pro at $799, making them $100 and $200 cheaper, respectively, than their predecessors. Microsoft claims the new Surface Laptop offers up to 16 hours of web browsing on a single charge. Both devices run on Windows 11 and support features like Recall, which automatically remembers what was previously displayed on screen, enhanced file search, and AI-powered settings adjustments. Microsoft began accepting preorders ahead of the official release on May 20. The devices will be available in three colors: platinum, ocean, and violet.
