Blockchain-based home equity lender Figure Technology saw its stock surge 44% on its Nasdaq debut, valuing the company at $7.62 billion. Figure’s shares opened at $44, well above the $25 offering price, raising $787.5 million in its public offering. As of the end of June last year, the company facilitated $6 billion in home equity loans over the past 12 months, marking a 29% increase from the previous year. Using its proprietary blockchain, Provenance, Figure manages the entire home equity loan process. More than half of the top 20 mortgage companies employ this technology, and over 20 major banks have adopted Provenance. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, backed by the Winklevoss twins, is also set to go public on the New York Stock Exchange later this week.
