Elon Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) startup X.AI filed for an initial public offering of up to $1 billion with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday (local time). According to major news outlets, X.AI has already raised $135 million from four investors since the 29th of last month. X.AI developed Grok, a generative AI like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Bard, and Anthropic's Cloud, and unveiled it last month. So far, it's reportedly only available to a select few users. "Grok likes sarcasm and responds with humor," Musk said when he unveiled Grok last month. X.AI's full release is expected to increase competition in the generative AI market.
