Union says Amazon threatened layoffs in formal objection to election results

The Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union has filed a formal objection to the results of a union election at an Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama, alleging the e-commerce company threatened to lay off workers. The employees voted against unionizing in an April 9th vote, arguing that the results should be set aside because Amazon “created an atmosphere of confusion, coercion and/or fear of reprisals”

Uber Technologies Inc. drivers in some African countries including Nigeria and Kenya have gone on strike to demand a higher share of commissions due to increases in fuel prices and inflationary pressures amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The U.S. ride-hailing service in Nigeria already has limited trips available on the app, leading to a sharp rise in fares in Lagos.

Amazon's first Project Kuiper internet satellites will launch aboard Atlas V rockets

Amazon's plan to blanket most of the planet with internet access is one step closer to reality, securing nine Atlas V rockets from United Launch Alliance to start putting more than 3,200 satellites in low Earth orbit. The company agreed to put half the satellites in orbit by 2026 and the entire constellation by 2029.
