E3 is a game show that has been held every June in Los Angeles since 1995. Hundreds of game and entertainment companies participate in the event, which showcases new games and devices, and is one of the three major game shows alongside Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has put it in jeopardy. It was canceled in 2020 at the start of the pandemic and moved online in 2021. Last year, it was canceled again due to the pandemic, and this year, it was canceled after major game companies such as Sony, Microsoft (MS), and Nintendo announced that they would not participate.
