Meta has rolled out major updates to its Ray-Ban smart glasses, including new color lens options and a broader release of features previously limited to Early Access users. Starting today, all users in supported markets can access real-time translation, Instagram messaging and calling, and Meta AI interactions based on their surroundings. The real-time translation feature, first revealed at Meta Connect 2024, supports English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Users can hear translations through their glasses without internet access by downloading local language packs beforehand — ideal for travelers. New lens options include shiny chalky gray with sapphire Transitions for the Skyler frame, and shiny black with clear or green tinted lenses. Meta is also preparing to release the Live AI feature, which allows Meta AI to see and respond more naturally to the wearer’s surroundings. Messaging and calling via Instagram will soon match features already supported by WhatsApp, Messenger, and native mobile apps. Music app integration is expanding beyond the US and Canada, though voice interactions with Meta AI for music remain limited to users whose default language is English. Meta AI will be rolled out to all supported EU countries next week, with Ray-Ban smart glasses set to launch in Mexico, India, and the UAE in the near future.
메타(Meta)가 레이밴(Ray-Ban) 스마트 안경에 새로운 컬러 렌즈 조합과 함께 다양한 기능 업데이트를 전 세계로 확대 적용한다고 23일 발표했다. 그동안 ‘얼리 액세스 프로그램’ 이용자에게만 제공되던 실시간 번역, 인스타그램을 통한 메시지·통화 기능, 주변 시각 정보를 기반으로 한 메타 AI와의 대화 등이 일반 사용자에게도 제공된다. 특히 실시간 번역 기능은 지난해 ‘메타 커넥트 2024’ 행사에서 공개됐으며, 영어, 프랑스어, 이탈리아어, 스페인어 간의 대화를 실시간으로 번역해 사용자 언어로 들려준다. 로컬 언어팩을 사전 다운로드하면 와이파이나 모바일 데이터 없이도 이용 가능해 여행 중에도 유용하다. 새로운 색상 조합으로는 레이밴 '스카일러' 프레임에 샤이니 초크 그레이와 사파이어 전환 렌즈, 샤이니 블랙과 클리어 혹은 그린 틴트 렌즈 조합이 추가되었다. 또한 인스타그램을 통해 사진·음성·영상 통화와 메시지 주고받기가 곧 지원될 예정이며, 메타 AI가 실시간으로 사용자의 시야를 파악해 자연스럽게 대화하는 '라이브 AI' 기능도 곧 미국과 캐나다에서 일반 공개된다. 음악 앱(스포티파이, 아마존 뮤직, 샤잠, 애플 뮤직 등)과의 연동도 미국·캐나다 외 지역으로 확대 중이며, 음악 재생을 위한 음성 명령 기능은 여전히 영어 설정 사용자만 가능하다. 메타는 유럽연합(EU) 전역과 멕시코, 인도, 아랍에미리트(UAE)에도 스마트 안경 출시를 준비 중이다.
