Microsoft has reportedly halted production of the Surface Laptop Studio 2 earlier this month. The device is expected to be officially discontinued in June, and for now, there are no plans for a successor. An official Surface reseller confirmed that "production of the device has ended, and supply may be limited depending on the market." Microsoft plans to continue providing driver and firmware support according to its existing policy. Over the past few years, Microsoft has been streamlining its Surface lineup. Following the discontinuation of the Surface Headphones, Earbuds, Duo, and Surface Studio 2, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 is now also being phased out. Industry analysts note that the direction of Microsoft’s hardware business has become increasingly uncertain, especially after the departure of former Surface chief Panos Panay in 2023.

마이크로소프트가 '서피스 랩탑 스튜디오 2(Surface Laptop Studio 2)'의 생산을 이달 초 전면 중단한 것으로 확인됐다. 공식 단종은 오는 6월 중 이뤄질 예정이며, 현재로서는 후속 모델 출시 계획도 없는 상태다. 서피스 공식 리셀러는 “해당 제품은 생산이 종료됐으며, 시장별로 재고 공급이 제한될 수 있다”고 밝혔다. 마이크로소프트는 드라이버 및 펌웨어 지원은 기존 정책에 따라 계속 이어갈 방침이다. 마이크로소프트는 지난 몇 년간 서피스 제품군을 정리해오고 있다. 서피스 헤드폰, 이어버드, 듀오에 이어 서피스 스튜디오 2까지 단종된 데 이어, 이번 서피스 랩탑 스튜디오 2도 퇴장 수순을 밟게 됐다. 특히 2023년 서피스 부문을 이끌던 파노스 파네이(Panos Panay)의 이직 이후, 마이크로소프트의 하드웨어 사업 방향은 더욱 불투명해졌다는 분석이 나온다.
