Tesla has surpassed a cumulative autonomous driving distance of 50,000 miles using its FSD Unsupervised (fully autonomous driving without supervision) technology. Recently, Tesla announced that vehicles produced at its Giga Texas and Fremont factories are now operating with a custom FSD build, allowing them to autonomously drive themselves from the production line to the delivery lot. This route covers about 1.4 miles and includes real road environments with pedestrians, vehicles, and construction equipment, all navigated fully autonomously by Tesla vehicles. Notably, the Cybertruck, which was previously excluded, has also begun using FSD Unsupervised to travel from the factory to the delivery lot via the Cybertunnel. Tesla plans to soon introduce new autonomous driving features to the Cybertruck, such as “Start FSD from Park” and “Actually Smart Summon.” Elon Musk emphasized that with the official launch of FSD Unsupervised, it will mark the first commercialization of a generalized, pure AI-based autonomous driving solution. Tesla is expressing strong confidence in the upcoming launch of its Robotaxi network and is accelerating FSD updates and global expansion.
