Cryptocurrency group Ripple is acquiring stablecoin platform operator Rail for $200 million. This acquisition comes amid a surge in investment and interest in the digital token industry following the passage of stablecoin regulatory legislation by the U.S. government. Rail is a company that supports stable and secure payment services for institutional clients through stablecoin infrastructure development and banking partnerships. It is backed by major investors, including billionaire Mike Novogratz’s Galaxy Digital. Last month, the U.S. Congress passed the so-called Genius Act to regulate the stablecoin market, and major Wall Street banks have announced plans to issue their own stablecoins, signaling increased participation from traditional financial institutions.
