Qualcomm has unveiled its next-generation Windows PC chipsets, the “Snapdragon X2 Elite” and “Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme.” Built on a 3nm process, the new chips can deliver up to 31% higher CPU performance or 43% lower power consumption compared to the previous generation, while offering up to 2.3 times better GPU performance per watt. Qualcomm highlighted that the Elite Extreme, in particular, provides up to 75% faster CPU performance than competing products. The newly integrated 80 TOPS Hexagon NPU delivers 37% faster performance compared to the previous generation and is described as the most powerful laptop NPU to date. For creators, workflows such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere see over 40% faster performance, while gaming gets a boost with the addition of an 18MB dedicated cache called Adreno High Performance Memory. Razer announced it will bring its Synapse software to Windows on Snapdragon, though it stopped short of confirming a Snapdragon-based gaming laptop. The new chips are scheduled for release in the first half of 2026, and attention is on whether Snapdragon — previously limited to ultraportable laptops — can now expand into the larger PC market with power levels exceeding 50W.
