TSMC is teaming up with Sony to build a new $7 billion chip factory in Japan. The new plant will focus on older 22nm and 28nm processes in an effort to meet supply constraints for older chips. TSMC's board has also approved a new Taiwan fab that will build out a new 7nm and legacy 28nm process.
