The controversial comments were written in reaction to reports that Doge employees could access sensitive personal information of millions of Americans. Musk claimed on his social media platform X that these comments "have broken the law," and Reddit promptly closed the community. Meanwhile, a prosecutor appointed by the Trump administration stated that the FBI is investigating actions "targeting" Doge employees. Edward Martin, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, emphasized that he "will not tolerate threats against Doge workers or law-breaking by the disgruntled". This incident occurred amid escalating tensions between the two sides, following more than 100 Reddit communities banning X link posts in protest of Musk's controversial gesture at a recent rally.
