DOGE representatives arrived at NOAA's Maryland office last Tuesday and demanded access to IT systems. They are reportedly searching for and deleting materials related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and are also monitoring employees' email systems. NOAA employees were instructed to delete all DEI-related materials, and information about how to report sexual assault and harassment was also removed. Additionally, chatrooms and websites for employee resource groups, including those for women, were shut down. These actions are significantly lowering employee morale, and some employees have been placed on administrative leave. Democratic lawmakers have denounced DOGE's actions as "ransacking the federal government" and claim that Americans' personal information is being illegally accessed.
