France has unveiled a €109 billion (approximately $112.6 billion) private AI investment plan to strengthen its position in the global AI race, just ahead of the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron described this initiative as France's response to the U.S.'s $500 billion "Stargate" AI project. The investment includes contributions from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), U.S., Canadian funds, and major French companies such as Iliad, Orange, and Thales. The UAE plans to invest up to €50 billion in building a 1-gigawatt AI data center campus in France. Iliad has committed €3 billion to AI infrastructure, while Paris-based AI firm Mistral announced plans to invest billions in its own data center. Macron emphasized that this funding will help Europe compete with global tech leaders like the U.S. and China, positioning France as a key player in AI development.
