Apple Pay Later, the company's Buy Now Pay Later service, has launched in the U.S. for selected users. The service allows users to split payments into installments, with loans ranging from $50 to $1,000. Payments are tracked in Apple Wallet and require a linked debit card for transactions. Despite concerns about debt accumulation and consumer protection, Apple ensures user data is secure and private. Apple Financing LLC manages the loans and will report them to U.S. credit bureaus in the fall.

Security Copilot correlates attack data and prioritizes security incidents, integrating with Microsoft's existing security product portfolio and claiming to be improved by generative AI models from OpenAI, specifically the recently launched text-generating GPT-4. The custom model is said to "catch what other approaches might miss" by answering security-related questions, advising on the best course of action, and summarizing events and processes. However, considering the untruthful tendencies of text-generating models, it's unclear how effective such a model might be in production.

Huawei reportedly said it has developed its own chip design tools, a move aimed at side-stepping U.S. sanctions and making the Chinese technology giant more self-sufficient in the semiconductor space. Eric Xu, rotating chairman at Huawei, said the company along with other domestic firms, jointly created electronic chip design tools required to make semiconductors at 14 nanometers and above, according to a speech obtained by Chinese financial and business publication Yicai.

Lyft grappling with competition and a battered stock price, is tapping a board member as its chief executive, and its two co-founders will step back from managing the company, the ride-sharing company said Monday. David Risher, who had management stints at Amazon.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp. before starting a childhood-reading nonprofit in 2009, will take over from Logan Green, who co-founded Lyft with current President John Zimmer. The pair will retain their seats on the board but not participate in running Lyft day-to-day.

The CFTC has charged Binance founder Changpeng Zhao and former compliance chief Samuel Lim. The company allegedly offered unregistered crypto derivatives and structured itself to avoid US regulation. Zhao directed much of the rulebreaking himself, the CFTC claims. Senator Elizabeth Warren recently sent Zhao a letter accusing him of creating a "hotbed of illegal financial activity"

Microsoft Teams app is being overhauled to make it faster and easier to use. The new app is available for businesses to try out today. Microsoft says the new app will be three times faster and use 50 percent less memory. It will also consume 70 percent less disk space.
