Meta Platform’s Instagram was back up for most users after a global outage, the photo-sharing platform said on Thursday, adding that an hours-long technical issue has been resolved. “Earlier tonight, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing Instagram. We resolved this issue for everyone as quickly as possible,” Instagram said in a tweet.

Apple is launching Apple Pay in South Korea. The company announced the move alongside the new yellow iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Salesforce is the latest tech powerhouse to join ChatGPT mania. The company said Tuesday that it will release software incorporating artificial intelligence to help salespeople, customer service agents and marketers do their jobs. Salesforce is calling the offering Einstein GPT, drawing on OpenAI’s technology that’s taken the tech industry by storm since the Microsoft-backed startup opened ChatGPT to the public in November.

It’s taken rather longer than a month for Meta-owned WhatsApp to commit to address complaints swirling around how it imposes terms of service on users but the European Commission has just announced that the messaging platform has agreed to improve how it communicates to users and presents future ToS updates. Early in 2021, WhatsApp triggered a major user backlash after it pushed out an aggressive and confusingly worded update to its ToS that required users to accept the update in order to continue using the platform without making it clear what exactly was changing. The episode caused widespread confusion and drove some users to ditch the platform altogether — with rivals like Signal and Telegram reporting a surge in adoption.

One month after acquiring Amazon Web Services consultant partner Itoc, Thoughtworks has confirmed it will be laying off around 500 employees on a global basis, joining the ongoing list of IT companies cutting hundreds or thousands of employees in 2023. When contacted, the $1.3 billion Chicago-based company confirmed it made the “difficult decision” to reduce its global workforce of about 12,500 employees by approximately 4 percent. “These changes were necessary to support the future growth of our business,” Thoughtworks said when asked about the layoffs.
