The long-awaited cryptocurrency regulation framework released by President Joe Biden’s Treasury Department this month attempted to outline a plan for managing the burgeoning crypto industry. Those included the collapse of Terraform Labs, which led to an Interpol arrest warrant for its founder, Do Kwon; the Celsius Network’s bankruptcy; and the collapse of crypto prices. Stablecoins and other cryptocurrencies dismantle the power of federal currencies and allow individuals to accrue wealth independently, which is exactly why the federal government doesn’t like them.

The Southeast Asian nation had earlier announced a 2021 launch but revised it to the first quarter of 2022 due to complexities in the process. The minister said introducing a crypto stock exchange entails preparations, validations of entities who would be included, as well as minimum capital requirements. Indonesia’s Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), which regulates crypto trading in the Southeast Asian nation, last month stopped issuing registration certificates for crypto asset traders.

D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine accused tech billionaire Michael Saylor of evading $25 million in district taxes in a lawsuit filed Wednesday. The suit also names MicroStrategy, the data-tracking company Saylor co-founded, as a defendant, claiming the company conspired to help Saylor evade the taxes. Saylor allegedly claimed to reside in Florida, which does not have a personal income tax, while actually living in several different homes around D.C., according to the lawsuit.
