글로벌 자율주행차 시장이 빠르게 성장할 것으로 전망된다. 시장조사업체 마켓앤마켓(Markets and Markets)은 글로벌 자율주행차 시장 규모가 2023년 233억 달러(약 31조 원)에서 2030년 1,332억 달러(약 177조 원)로 연평균 22.0% 성장할 것으로 예측했다.

빅테크, 플랫폼 기업에 대한 정부의 입장이 자율규제 방침에서 다시금 엄격한 사전규제안으로 선회하며 국내는 물론 해외에서도 이에 대한 우려와 성토가 이어지고 있다. 우선 학계와 업계에서 지적하는 부분은 ‘이 법이 과연 해외 플랫폼을 규제할 수 있을 것이냐’는 것이다. 국내에서는 애플, 구글과 같은 글로벌 빅테크를 대상으로 수 차례 규제 시도가 있었지만, 대개는 법적 공방으로 이어지며 실효성 논란이 끊이지 않았기 때문이다.
