영국, 데이터 센터를 '국가 중요 기반시설'로 지정

The UK government has announced that it has designated data centers as 'Critical National Infrastructure' (CNI). Peter Kyle, the UK Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, explained the background of this decision, stating, "Data centers are the engines of modern life, powering the digital economy and keeping our personal information safe." With this measure, data centers have been recognized as having the same level of importance as energy, nuclear power, and defense. This is the first instance in about a decade where a new sector has been granted CNI status. The CNI designation will provide data center operators with a direct communication channel with the government to prepare for and respond to cyber threats. The UK government expects this decision to strengthen national cybersecurity and improve the ability to respond to hackers and unexpected cyber incidents.
