Dangerous by design. In 2021, Kracht, an inspector with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, was conducting an investigation into a Tacoma Amazon warehouse when he was forced to stop by an internal employee. About 1,000 workers in the warehouse were threatened by conveyor belts and other industrial equipment. Amazon is currently in litigation with Washington's workplace safety regulator over employee safety measures. If Amazon loses the case, it will have to remodel the warehouse from the ground up.
