Before ChatGPT, there was a time when the tech industry was talking about something completely different. "Hey, guys, remember the metaverse?" For a while, the metaverse dominated tech news. The virtual reality world was so immersive and compelling that you wanted to spend part of your life in it. Leading the metaverse narrative was Mark Zuckerberg. The billionaire was so passionate about the meta that he changed Facebook's name to Meta in October 2021. "The defining characteristic of the metaverse will be presence," Zuckerberg said in announcing the change.
