美 바이든 정부, 전기차 배터리 증산에 31억달러 지원한다

미국 바이든 행정부가 2일(현지시간) 미국 내 전기차 배터리 증산에 31억달러(약 3조9300억원) 규모의 예산 지원 계획을 밝혔다고 경제매체 CNBC가 보도했다. 미국은 중국, 유럽에 이어 세계 3위의 전기차 시장으로 평가된다. 그러나 아직 전기차 판매 비중은 낮은 편이다.

The Biden administration on Monday announced it will begin a $3.1 billion plan to boost domestic manufacturing of batteries, in a broader effort to shift the country away from gas-powered cars to electric vehicles. The funding will support grants aimed at building, retooling or expanding manufacturing of batteries and battery components, as well as establishing battery recycling facilities. The grants will be funded through President Joe Biden’s $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law, which includes more than $7 billion to bolster the country’s battery supply chain.
