일론 머스크는 트럼프가 미 대통령에 당선되더라도 바이든 행정부에서 겪은 푸대접 대신 오히려 최소 3가지 이익을 기대하며 그를 지지했을 것으로 보인다. (물론 기본적으로 머스크는 트럼프와 ‘배짱이 맞아서’ 지지했을 것이다.) 그 3가지는 ▲바이든 행정부의 전기차 보조금 공제법 폐지시에도 자사의 보급경 전기차(모델 3)는 경쟁력있다는 점 ▲바이든 행정부가 머스크와 테슬라에 보인 푸대접을 더 이상 받지 않을 것이라는 점 ▲바이든 행정부가 테슬라 자율주행 기술을 예의주시하며 잠재적으로 증권과 전신 사기 혐의로 이어질 수 있는 조사 개시를 회피할 수 있으리란 기대감이다.

China controls nearly half of global production for some of the materials needed to produce these batteries.

미국 바이든 행정부는 오는 2030년까지 미국 전역 50만개의 전기차 충전소 네트워크를 구축한다는 계획을 추진하고 있다. 충전소 네트워크에 가장 선행되어야 할 충전 표준안 마련에 나선 것. 충전 표준안은 전기차 제조사, 차량 브랜드, 충전기에 구애받지 않고 전기차 운전자라면 누구나 접근할 수 있는 규격을 확보, 보급하는 것을 골자로 하고 있다.

The Biden administration this week proposed new standards for its program to build a national network of 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations by 2030. Officials said the proposal will help establish the groundwork for states to build charging station projects that are accessible to all drivers regardless of the location, EV brand or charging company. Earlier this year, the White House introduced a plan to allocate $5 billion to states to fund EV chargers during the next five years.

미국 바이든 행정부가 2일(현지시간) 미국 내 전기차 배터리 증산에 31억달러(약 3조9300억원) 규모의 예산 지원 계획을 밝혔다고 경제매체 CNBC가 보도했다. 미국은 중국, 유럽에 이어 세계 3위의 전기차 시장으로 평가된다. 그러나 아직 전기차 판매 비중은 낮은 편이다.
