Two weeks after announcing that it was pausing hiring, Coinbase said it’s extending the freeze for the “foreseeable future.” Coinbase has lost more than 70% of its value this year as turmoil in the economy and a plunge in cryptocurrencies led to a decline in users. “We have decided to pause hiring for as long as this macro environment requires,” the company said.

Since its first iteration went live in 2018, Uniswap has seen over $1 trillion in crypto be traded on the decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol. The decentralized exchange hit this lifetime cumulative trading volume mark on Tuesday, according to an announcement on Twitter from Uniswap Labs. Uniswap has dominated the decentralized exchange market since last year, in terms of trade volume, according to data compiled by The Block Research.

FTX is launching stock trading capabilities for its customers through its U.S. division. The company, helmed by billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried, says its launch will start in private beta mode for a select group of customers. The full rollout will begin in late 2022, FTX says.

Binance announced on Thursday that it will be delisting its Tether-margined Terra futures contracts following a more than 99% drop in price, intending to delist the pair if the price goes under 0.005 USDT. The announcement follows the exchange changing the leverage and margin tiers for LUNA-tied contracts, with the maximum leverage set at eight times for positions under 50,000.

Crypto exchange company Coinbase said it incurred a net loss of $430 million during 2022’s first quarter. The earnings release follows a rocky period for Coinbase’s stock and the US equities market as a whole. Coinbase’s report showed a quarterly trade volume of $309 billion, down from $547 billion in Q4 2021. Assets on platform fell to $256 billion.

French financial regulators afforded Binance, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges, a digital asset service provider license on Wednesday. Binance can now operate its digital asset trading platform in France, meaning it can facilitate digital asset custody, let users buy and sell crypto and help to exchange digital assets for each other, according to the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), a French financial market regulator. The move adds another step in Binance’s expansion across Europe — and to particularly entrench itself in France, which Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao called, “uniquely positioned to be the leader of this industry in Europe” at the 2022 Paris Blockchain Week Summit.
