Blizzard says it has banned more than 250,000 accounts since the launch of Overwatch 2. Blizzard has a zero tolerance policy for cheating and unauthorized programming in Overwatch 2. We are continuously improving our detection and prevention systems to prevent cheating and the use of unauthorized programs. In addition to the account bans, Blizzard said, "If you see users of cheating and unauthorized programs, please report them using the in-game report feature."

Blizzard announced that when Overwatch 2 launches on October 4th, it will overwrite overwatch prime. The changeover will end the six-year-old game, effectively ending the 6v6 assault format. Blizzard said that players who upgraded to OW2 would still be able to play with those who didn't.
