According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Monday, chipmaker Intel plans to invest $25 billion to build a semiconductor factory in Israel. Earlier in the day, Intel announced a major investment in Poland, marking the company's growing presence in Europe. Intel's new plant, to be built in the southern city of Kiryat Gat, is expected to be completed and operational by 2027, according to the Israeli Finance Ministry. Intel acknowledged the investment, saying it would "further grow its manufacturing capacity in Israel," but did not provide details.

U.S. chipmaker Intel Corp. has posted its worst-ever quarterly loss for the first quarter of this year, reaching nearly $4 trillion.
