채로 캘리포니아 도로를 달리는 시범운행을 진행했다. 죽스의 로보택시는 다른 자율주행차와는 달리 핸들과 페달이 없으며 승객이 서로 마주볼 수 있도록 설계한 것이 가장 큰 특징이다. 죽스의 자율주행차가 상용화되기 위해서는 미국 당국의 승인외에도 컨트롤러를 탑재하지 않은 차량에 대한 면제가 필요할 것으로 보인다.

자율주행차산업계는 빈번한 실패에도 불구하고 지난 1~2년 동안 조용한 상승세를 보이고 있다. 아직까지 완전 무인 자동차시대와는 거리가 멀지만 그 기술이 더 많은 장소에서, 더 많은 방식으로, 좀더 현실적으로 테스트되고 있다는 점이다. 로봇자동차 시대가 느리지만 꾸준히 다가오고 있다는 얘기다.

국토교통부는 자율주행차가 안전하게 제작되고 조기 상용화될 수 있도록 지원하기 위하여 관계기관 협의를 거쳐 레벨3 자율주행차 안전기준 개정을 추진한다고 26일 밝혔다. 국토부는 지난 2019년 12월 세계 최초로 레벨3 자율주행차 안전기준을 제정한 바 있으며, 이후 2021년 3월 제정된 국제기준과 정합성을 높이기 위해 이번 개정을 추진한다.

With self-driving vehicles possibly arriving on UK roads later this year, the government is starting to put rules in place to accommodate them, the BBC has reported. As part of that, it will allow drivers in autonomous vehicles to watch TV from an infotainment screen in self-driving mode, as long as they're ready to take back control. Self-driving cars are not yet legal in the UK, but the Department for Transport (DfT) said they may be ready later in 2022. A year ago, the government announced that basic self-driving cars with automated lane-keeping systems could arrive on British roads by the end of last year.
