Twitter has once again quietly updated an important policy without explanation. It appears to have changed its hateful conduct policy from 2018, removing a section that protected transgender people from misgendering and deadnaming. In the past, Twitter has banned targeted deadnaming and misgendering. In the past, Twitter has stated that "Twitter prohibits repeated slurs intended to demean or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes about a protected category, analogies, or other content intended to denigrate or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes about protected categories," which has now been removed.
