권도형 테라폼랩스 최고경영자(CEO) 체포, 위조된 여권 소지

테라·루나 코인 사태의 핵심 당사자인 권도형(32) 테라폼랩스 대표로 추정되는 인물이 몬테네그로에서 체포됐다. 유럽 남동부 몬테네그로에서 두바이로 도피하려다 공항에서 검거됐는데 당시 권씨는 위조된 여권을 소지하고 있었던 것으로 알려졌다.

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed a complaint against Terraform Labs and its CEO, Do Kwon. Kwon allegedly orchestrated a multibillion dollar “crypto asset securities fraud,” the SEC said Thursday. The company advertised UST as a “yield-bearing” coin, offering to pay interest of up to 20 percent.

Do Kwon, CEO of Terraform Labs, said today on Twitter that contrary to reports, his company has no tax liabilities in South Korea. Terraform Labs is the core development team working on the Terra blockchain whose native assets, LUNA and UST stablecoin, recently collapsed after a bank run that wiped out billions of dollars of value. A recent media report suggested that authorities in Korea were investigating Kwon and Terraform Labs in more than $78 million in unpaid corporate taxes.

The ongoing saga with Terraform Labs, the blockchain developer behind Terra (LUNA), took a turn following a supposed change in employment status for many on the firm’s legal team. According to their LinkedIn profiles, Terraform Labs general counsel Marc Goldich, chief litigation and regulatory counsel Noah Axler and chief corporate counsel Lawrence Florio have all stopped working for the blockchain firm as of May 2022. Goldich started at Terraform Labs in August 2021 while Axler and Florio joined in January 2022.
