Tesla delivered a record number of vehicles in the first quarter, beating estimates after a series of price cuts stoked demand. Elon Musk’s electric car automaker on Sunday said it produced 440,808 vehicles and delivered 422,875. Sales were up 4% from the previous quarter. Tesla expects to produce roughly 1.8 million cars by the end of the year, although CEO Musk in January said the company has the potential to hit 2 million.

Over the next three years, BYD plans to introduce new commercial-vehicle models in markets including China, Europe and Japan, according to people familiar with the company’s plans. It has mapped out a budget of more than $20 billion for its commercial-vehicle unit through 2025, with major outlays planned for research, product development and expansion of production capacity, the people said.

테슬라의 ‘투자자의 날’ 행사후 기업의 주가가 오히려 하락했다. 테슬라의 이번 행사에는 기업의 비전과 그동안의 성과에 대해서 길게 설명을 늘어놨지만, 저렴하고 새로운 모델 등 구체적인 비즈니스 세부사항에 대한 내용은 없었다. 앞서 일론 머스크가 공약했던 기업의 주요 목표도 제대로 지켜지지 않았다는 지적이 나온다.

Elon Musk sought to rally Tesla shareholders around his vision for achieving the electric-vehicle maker’s long-term goal of accelerating a transition to sustainable energy. The Tesla chief executive and other Tesla managers made their pitch Wednesday at an investor event held at the company’s factory near the Texas capital. The presentation, dubbed the company’s “Master Plan Part 3,” was part mission statement and partly a look under the hood at how Tesla tackled various design and engineering challenges and is lowering costs.

Tesla's plant in Brandenburg near Berlin is now producing 4,000 cars per week. It hit production of 2,000 units per week in October last year. The maximum capacity planned for the Brandenburg plant is 500,000 vehicles a year. Tesla has also begun assembling batteries in Germany that will be used in vehicles produced at the plant.
