Warner Bros. Discovery appears to be on the verge of merging with fellow entertainment giant Paramount. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav met with Paramount CEO Bob Bakish on Tuesday to discuss a possible merger, according to U.S. internet outlet Axios.

Paramount+ has extended its streaming rights with the UEFA Champions League until 2030. The existing contract was originally meant to expire by 2024. The new contract will cost Paramount $250 million per year and a total $1.5 billion USD. Some of the matches will be broadcast on both CBS and CBS Sports Network.

Paramount+ has set a release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The movie will be released on December 20th, 2024. A Sonic-themed Fall Guys event starts on Thursday and runs until Monday. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Super Sonic and Dr. Robotnik outfits will be available in the store.

Paramount Global reported today that its streaming service Paramount+ had a net add of 3.7 million subscribers to bring its global total to 43.3 million, up from 39.6 million last quarter. CEO Bob Bakish has said the company aims to reach 100 million Paramount+ subscribers by 2024.

The Roku Channel is adding CBS Sports to its premium add-on service. Paramount+ will give users access to live sports, including NFL and NBA games. The streaming service reached 40 million subscribers in May, putting it in the same league as Hulu and HBO Max. There's no difference between signing up for Paramount+ via the Roku Channel or downloading the streamer's app.
