불과 몇 년 전까지만 해도 많은 전기 자동차 제조업체들이 A123, 파나소닉, LG에너지솔루션, 삼성SDI, SK이노베이션, ATL과 같은 외부 배터리 전문업체들로부터 배터리 팩을 구입해 왔다. 하지만 이제 많은 전기 자동차 제조사들이 테슬라를 본받아 자체 배터리 공장을 두는 경향으로 나아가고 있다. 배경에는 당연히 효율성이 꼽힌다.
