The next generation of Apple's CarPlay interface has been previewed in luxury cars from Porsche and Aston Martin. The interface, which was first announced at Apple's WWDC in 2022, is expected to be released next year in select models from the luxury automakers. According to Car and Driver, the new version builds on previous versions of CarPlay, but will notably connect with all displays in a vehicle, including the instrument cluster.

The Porsche Taycan is one of the most attractive electric cars on the market, combining speed, luxury, and practicality. But with a range of less than 250 miles per charge and a starting price of at least $90,000, it's hardly a mainstream vehicle. Maybe, just maybe, Porsche's next electric car will be a little closer to the mainstream. Porsche hasn't released all the details yet, but it's reportedly launching an electric Macan with more than 600 horsepower in the guise of a crossover SUV. Pricing has yet to be determined, but it will reportedly have a top end that can go "significantly" farther than the Macan on a single charge.

Porsche is halting the mint of its first non-fungible token (NFT) collection, the German sports car manufacturer announced on Twitter, after receiving negative feedback from its community. “Our holders have spoken. We’re going to cut our supply and stop the mint to move forward with creating the best experience for an exclusive community,” said the project’s official Twitter account, claiming that more information is coming later in the day. The mint opened on Monday morning, with each NFT – a digital replica of its iconic 911 model – priced at 0.911 ether (ETH), or about $1,490 each. In the hours following, criticism of the collection mounted on Twitter, with creators and collectors sharing their thoughts on the company racing into a Web3 strategy without considering the overall state of the NFT market.

Porsche has revealed details of its Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform. The PPE will be the basis for many of the automaker's high volume electric cars. Porsche is aiming to have 80% of its sales be pure electric cars by 2030. The Macan EV will be powered by the PPE and will arrive in 2025.

The Porsche 911 Sally Special sells for $3.6 million. The car is a one-off 911 GTS inspired by the Sally Carrera character in the movie Cars. The proceeds will go to Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR. The auction received more interest than RM Sotheby's expected.

Volkswagen's Herbert Diess is leaving the company at the end of August. Porsche chairman Oliver Blume will take over the role as of September 1st. Diess was charged with stock manipulation in 2019. He oversaw the company's transition to electric vehicles and self-driving cars.
