최근 제20대 대통령직인수위원회(이하 인수위)의 ‘차세대 네트워크 발전 전략’ 발표에서 나온 5G 중간요금제 이슈가 부각되고 있다. 이와 같은 인수위 발표에 일단 통신 3사와 시민단체 측은 원론적인 수준에서 긍정의 입장을 밝히고 있다. 하지만 각각의 속내와 요구 수준에는 저마다의 이해관계가 엇갈리며 쉽사리 결론이 나지는 않을 것으로 전망된다.

Verizon Business saw record demand for fixed wireless broadband and next-generation wireless services such as 5G. The carrier said 75 percent of its revenue growth will be generated by 5G mobility and nationwide broadband over the next four years. “This is going to pay off big time in the next five to 10 years,” CEO Hans Vestberg said.
