The CFPB is looking to regulate the buy now, pay later (BNPL) industry. BNPLs allow customers to pay for products and services in installments over a fixed period. Many don't charge any interest or late fees, and don't require a credit check for customers to qualify. The agency found that BNpl vendors are approving more customers for loans than in 2020, and delinquencies are rising.
