넷플릭스, "DVD 사업 역사 속으로"... DVD 대여 서비스 중단

1998년 온라인 DVD 대여업체로 출발한 넷플릭스가 상징과도 같았던 DVD 대여 서비스를 종료한다. 18일(현지시간) 더 버지에 따르면 넷플릭스는 최근 우편을 통한 DVD 대여 서비스를 중단한다고 전했다. 1998년 이후 약 25년 만에 넷플릭스의 상징이었던 DVD 대여 서비스가 역사 속으로 사라진다. 넷플릭스는 지금껏 50억 편이 넘는 DVD 및 블루레이를 북미 구독자들에게 서비스해 왔지만, OTT 산업의 발전에 따라 이를 중단하기로 했다. 넷플릭스의 마지막 DVD는 2023년 9월 29일에 배송된다.
