최근 NFT의 환경파괴 논란이 대두되고 있다. NFT가 과도하게 많은 전기 사용을 유발해 전 세계 탄소 중립(net zero) 추세에 어긋난다는 지적이다. 반면, NFT 판매 수익, 친환경 에너지 활용 등으로 오히려 환경을 지키는데 NFT를 활용할 수 있다는 의견도 있다.
