브로드컴, 불안이 현실로... VMware 인수 후 1,300여 명 해고

There's always a "fairy tale" story behind corporate acquisitions. Well, maybe not, but there's a dark shadow behind most large-scale acquisitions: massive layoffs. Broadcom said it plans to lay off more than 1,300 VMware employees in California after completing its $61 billion acquisition of the company.

With Broadcom's acquisition of VMware expected to be finalized in a matter of weeks, Nutanix CEO Rajiv Ramaswamy said there are "many areas of concern" for VMware partners and customers. Before taking the helm of hyperconverged software and hybrid cloud powerhouse Nutanix in 2020, Ramaswamy worked at both VMware and Broadcom.

In an official press release, Broadcom announced that it has received approval from the U.K. regulatory authorities to acquire VMware for $61 billion. to acquire VMware for $61 billion on October 30." With the U.K. regulatory clearance, Broadcom has been granted merger clearance in the European Union, as well as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, South Africa, and Taiwan, and foreign investment control clearance in all required jurisdictions.
