Meta is initiating price cuts on its VR headsets. Starting March 5, the premium Quest Pro will be retailing for $1000, instead of its previous price of $1,500. The rather significant price drop was announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself on an Instagram channel. He says the move is meant to help “more people get into VR”.

If you’ve been holding out for VR hardware to mature, you chose wisely. Headsets have come a long way since the launch of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive six years ago. The Meta Quest 2 has already been around for two years, and it’s proven to be a very capable portable VR experience. And if you’re looking for a more immersive experience, high-end PC headsets are getting cheaper (and there’s the new PS VR 2 to look forward to). While the overall VR market hasn’t really changed much since last year (aside from the somewhat disappointing Meta Quet Pro), at least there are plenty of VR experiences to dive into.

AI and virtual reality technology is helping people practise for job interviews. Students at Sandwell College in West Bromwich put on VR headsets to do mock interviews. They were put through their paces by a talking avatar representing an AI software system. The system is made by London-based company Bodyswaps, which is targeting schools, colleges and universities.
