A Google spokesperson explained that maintaining hundreds of cultural events globally was unsustainable and that the change was made to streamline operations. This decision appears to reflect broader shifts in Google's approach, aligning with changes in the U.S. political landscape. Recently, Google has rolled back diversity hiring goals and other DEI initiatives, following similar moves by other major tech companies.
