Google has completely revamped its Google Home app to strengthen its smart home services and has begun a global rollout. At the core of the redesign is the AI system “Gemini for Home,” which replaces Google Assistant to enable more conversational device control and AI interactions. Control of Nest devices has also been integrated into the Google Home app. The new app includes a “Home” tab that provides an overview of the system, an “Activity” tab that consolidates notifications from connected devices, and an “Automations” tab for managing automated functions. A natural language command center called “Ask Home” has been added to the header, allowing users to search for specific moments in camera clips or set up more advanced automations. However, some features require a subscription to Google Home Premium. Alongside the Gemini integration, Google has focused on improving performance and stability. On some Android devices, loading speed is reported to be more than 70 percent faster, while camera views load 30 percent faster. Playback failures have been reduced by 40 percent, and app crashes are down by about 80 percent. The company also stated it is working on further optimizing battery consumption.
