The Danish parliament has completely banned the use of the Chinese artificial intelligence service 'DeepSeek', as reported by the state media outlet DR. This decision was made by the Presidium, which oversees parliamentary procedures, with security concerns cited as the main reason. In a statement, the parliament said, "We have decided not to allow access to DeepSeek due to the risk of monitoring the Danish Parliament's data." This ban applies to all devices provided by the parliament, effectively blocking access to the AI tool for members, staff, and users within the institution. This measure follows a previous advisory warning politicians and staff at Christiansborg against using DeepSeek. Meanwhile, the EU has also strengthened its vigilance against apps developed by Chinese companies, including banning TikTok on official work phones. The Danish Engineering Association trade union is going further by calling for a ban on the functionality of such apps on all phones used for official communication in the public sector, suggesting that additional sanctions may be expected in the future.
