Rivian has unveiled the new quad-motor variant of its second-generation R1. This new model emphasizes off-road performance and high output, with the R1T (truck) starting at $115,990 and the R1S (SUV) starting at $121,990. The four motors deliver a combined 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft of torque, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. The estimated driving range is about 374 miles on a single charge, which can extend to 400 miles in Conserve mode. The new R1 comes standard with an NACS port for access to Tesla's Supercharger network, and it also includes a CCS DC adapter for added charging convenience. A new off-road feature called “Kick Turn” enables the vehicle to spin in place or make sharp turns on dirt and gravel, which will be available via a software update in September. Additionally, the “RAD Tuner” function allows for fine-tuning of ride characteristics, and preset modes inspired by Rivian’s competition wins, such as “Desert Rally” and “Hill Climb,” are included. The interior features premium quilted seats and a deep bronze finish for a luxurious feel. Meanwhile, Rivian plans to launch the more practical R2 model in early 2026, starting at $45,000.
