The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has officially acknowledged Bitwise's XRP ETF application, bringing the launch of a Ripple (XRP) based exchange-traded fund (ETF) one step closer to reality. On February 19, the SEC published Bitwise's 19b-4 filing in the Federal Register, initiating a 21-day public comment period. The SEC has already acknowledged XRP ETF applications from Grayscale and 21Shares, and is currently reviewing applications from Canary Capital and WisdomTree. However, experts believe that the ongoing legal dispute between the SEC and Ripple needs to be resolved before an XRP ETF can be approved. Meanwhile, Bloomberg's ETF experts have assessed that XRP is not the frontrunner among cryptocurrency assets to launch an ETF after Bitcoin and Ethereum. They analyzed that Litecoin and Dogecoin are ahead of XRP in this regard. Despite this positive news, XRP's price is showing a downward trend. As of February 19, XRP has fallen by more than 5% over 24 hours, dropping below the $2.5 mark. Ripple's CEO Brad Garlinghouse maintains an optimistic stance, stating that an XRP ETF is 'inevitable'.
