Microsoft and the U.S. Idaho National Laboratory (INL) are exploring ways to use artificial intelligence to accelerate the preparation of documents required for new nuclear power plant permits. The AI system learns from past successful permit applications to automatically generate engineering and safety analysis reports and efficiently compile the complex applications that span hundreds of pages. The adoption of this technology is expected to significantly shorten the construction and operating permit processes for nuclear power plants.
