Microsoft announced that it has addressed 67 vulnerabilities through its March regular security update. Notably, 6 of these vulnerabilities are currently being actively exploited by hackers. Dustin Childs, a researcher at Trend Micro, assessed that "it is very unusual for so many vulnerabilities to be exploited simultaneously." The exploited vulnerabilities were found to primarily affect core components of the Windows operating system. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) immediately added these vulnerabilities to its list of exploited vulnerabilities and urged federal agencies to respond quickly. In particular, the Windows Management Console (MMC) vulnerability is known to have been used by a hacker group called 'EncryptHub' to attack more than 600 organizations. Microsoft also addressed critical vulnerabilities in major services such as Office, Remote Desktop Services, and Windows DNS through this patch. Security experts strongly recommend users to apply the latest patches promptly.
