Meta is embarking on the development of AI-powered humanoid robots. According to Bloomberg's report, Meta aims to develop its own humanoid robot hardware and lead the core AI-based technology for robots. This project will be led by a new hardware division within Meta's Reality Labs, with an initial focus on developing robots that can assist with household chores. Meta has already begun discussions with robotics companies such as Unitree Robotics and Figure AI. Meta plans to utilize existing technology used in VR devices and smart glasses development for robot development. CTO Andrew Bosworth stated that this investment will add value to Meta's AI and mixed and augmented reality programs. While the company has stated that there are no current plans to launch a Meta-branded robot butler, they have not ruled out the possibility for the future. Additionally, Meta's new division will also focus on developing safety standards for robots.
