Amazon has unveiled a new warehouse robot, Vulcan. Vulcan has the ability to "feel" the objects it touches and can organize and pick items in the warehouse using its two arms. It uses force sensors to detect contact with objects, while one arm, equipped with a camera and suction cup, grabs and moves the items. The robot has been trained on physical data and can handle around 75% of Amazon's inventory. It also has self-improvement capabilities. Vulcan is currently operating in Spokane, Washington, and Hamburg, Germany, and has processed 500,000 orders so far. Amazon has stated that the robot enhances warehouse safety and is not intended to replace human workers.
