Nvidia has spent more than $900 million to acquire talent and technology from the AI hardware startup Enfabrica. Under the deal, Enfabrica CEO Rochan Sankar and other employees have joined Nvidia, while the startup’s core technology has been licensed to the company. Enfabrica holds technology capable of connecting up to 100,000 GPUs, enabling massive clusters to operate as a single computer. This is expected to play a key role in Nvidia’s expansion of integrated AI infrastructure systems centered around its chips. The agreement is similar to the “acquihire” model pursued by Big Tech companies such as Meta and Google. Nvidia, meanwhile, has been aggressively expanding its AI ecosystem, most recently investing $5 billion in Intel to collaborate on AI processors.
